What’s MLOL?

MLOL (Media Library Online) is a digital library that allows access to a vast selection of ebooks, magazines, newspapers, audiobooks, podcasts, music, films and many other electronic resources.

Who can access it and how

To access the complete MLOL catalog, you must be registered and have an internet connection. The service is open to all users registered with the library, both institutional and non-institutional.

Once registered in the library:

  1. request your access credentials to MLOL by sending an email to lib@imtlucca.it requesting an account;
  2. log in to www.medialibrary.it using your credentials and choosing from the available bodies “Regione Toscana – Lucca (Bibliolucc@)”;
  3. explore the MLOL catalog and OPEN resources wherever and whenever you want. Use the SEARCH FOR A RESOURCE bar and side filters to refine your searches by topic, type, publisher or language.

Ebooks

Search, choose and download bestsellers, classics and editorial news. You can search by title, publisher, topic and language. You can read ebooks on PCs, smartphones, tablets and e-readers.

The loan of ebooks lasts 14 days. If the title is already on loan, you can reserve it, and the system will notify you via email when it is available again.

MLOL catalog ebooks are available in two different types of protection: Readium LCP and Adobe DRM. The platform indicates the procedure to follow depending on the protection system in force and the device you want to use.

Consult the MLOL guide to learn more about lending ebooks.

Newspaper and magazine

The MLOL Newsstand offers up to 7000 titles of newspapers and magazines that you can leaf through online. You can select them by language, country or category. By downloading the PressReader app, you can also consult the titles offline (for more information, consult the MLOL guide).

To use the PressReader app from mobile:

  1. Open MLOL on your computer browser and go to the consultation page of any newspaper distributed by PressReader;
  2. Click on the "sign in" icon at the top right and proceed to create a free PressReader account;

  3. Download the PressReader app on your mobile device and log in with your newly created credentials;

  4. Once logged in, the PressReader app will recognize you as an authorized user and you can download and consult periodicals and newspapers both online and offline.

Once you have created your PressReader account for 7 days, you will be able to access the newsstand even offline and download and consult newspapers directly from the app without having to switch to MLOL on your browser; at the end of the week, log in to PressReader again from the MLOL portal and repeat the indicated procedure.
